What is your opinion Mr.Akber on this thread posted here...

"If you go through the Quran and the Hadith, you'll find the source. Muhammad used to pay the Jews to read them their scriptures. When he was broke, revelations came that they should not charge for it :) Being illiterate, he had no way to ascertain that what they read to him was true, and when it didn't fit his purpose, he accused the Jews of corrupting their scripture."

While there is no doubt that Muhammad's knowledge of the Torah and Bible, however distorted, came from the Jews but during my study of the subject, I find no evidence his paying for it.

"That the Jewish/Christian/Babylonian legends are hopelessly messed up in the Quran is another matter. He was not able to keep chronologies and relations straight, and very obviously forgot what he said last month, coming up with contradictory explanations the next one."

Ibn Warraq in his book "the Origins of the Koran" deals with distortions of Torah and Bible at length. Muhammad -- oops Allah -- got many of the well-known facts wrong -- even the basic truths about the cosmos which Allah Himself is supposed to have created.
