Reader comment on item: Mr. Olmert Visits Washington

Submitted by J.S. (Canada), May 17, 2006 at 15:55

I suspect that Israel (this time) will not be successful in having the United States either endorsing or funding a territorial withdrawl. Such a withdrawl/retreat would have such immediate and negative consequences, why would the U.S. support such a move (and also possibly alienate key Republicans in a key election year)? It's a good thing that GW is so low in the polls right now...

Also the need for psychologically defeating radical Arab/Islamist must be re-asserted...and, this cannot be done through offering Arab's freebie, unilateral land deals. It would simply reinforce their belief that "Violence Works!!" They do not need such incentives...they need dis-incentives...making violence costly for them...having penalties attached... thus, for every rocket launched against Israel, X quantity of land is forfeited...Arabs should not be given sympathetic appeaser-talk and/or encouragement.
