There she goes again

Reader comment on item: Mr. Olmert Visits Washington

Submitted by yonatan silverman (Israel), May 16, 2006 at 12:06

Caroline Glick distinguishes herself in the pages of the Jerusalem Post by attempting to mother and mollycoddle the law breaking religious right wing in Israel. Now she is bringing herself up by her bootstraps by bad-mouthing the convergence plan. The one thing she fails to recognize is that there is a political and moral imperative behind the convergence plan which a majority of the Israeli electorate endorses. Namely, that the state of Israel has no business ruling over millions of Palestinian subjects. The country exited the Gaza Strip and it was and remains a painful move. Exiting from Judea and Samaria is next.

The state of Israel is a Jewish state, and by moving settlements out of Judea and Samaria the Jewish character of the country will be preserved. If the country abides by the present situation and the present circumstances, the consequences represent an existential threat. That's why things must change Caroline.
