Sad irony

So, in America today a University of Colorado professor, Ward Churchill, refers to the victims of the 9/11 attacks as "little Eichmanns," and in essence says that the 3,000 victims deserved to be murdered. The consequences for Churchill of condoning terrorism and murder? He remains a tenured professor (although he only has a Master's degree) on the payroll of the state of Colorado.

But a conservative posts a crude cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad and is apparently forced to "amicably" resign Belmont University. Although the cartoon is in bad taste, apparently his first amendment rights are not valued that highly at the largest Christian university in Tennessee. Bill Hobbs resigns under pressure for criticizing Islam, but a public employee is safe from censure for condoning murder.

We are living in a strange world.
