Cartoons, lampoons, and harpoons

Reader comment on item: Islamic Law at Belmont U

I recently watched "Ice Age: the Meltdown," in the theatres, but not before having to sit through two more animated cartoons that were not only unfunny, but patently annoying in their use of potty humor and crude antics that only a 3-year old could appreciate.

I thought to myself, "Remember when cartoons were funny and satirical? When they lampooned our culture in ways that no other media could do?"

I'm beginning to think that this genre is dead. Sure, if all one wanted to prove is their 1st. amendment rights, then they could draw anything they wanted, and to heck with other countries orf cultures who may find it offensive. What pains me is that drawing cartoons of Mohammad just to prove that one can do that in a free society is a waste of ink, as are these new cartoon comedies.

I would like to see cartoonists using their talents to lampoon and harpoon how our government kisses the proverbial posteriors of Islamists who would like nothing better than to drive a pike though ours. Same goes for the warped attitude of those who support and promote homicide bombers as legimitate "self defense."

Why aren't cartoonists slamming other groups who cower to Islamists like the leftist universities?

Muslims NEED to be offended, but with their insane ideological leaders and policies, not their religious deity. Mohammad is dead, and rather than beat a dead horse, I would much prefer kicking the stuffing out of the living Islamists like Ahmadinejad, Bin-Laden, and Al Zarkawi.

Next time Bin Laden sends us a tape, let's put it on America's Funniest Videos.

A little contempt for our enemies is a good thing.
