thanks for your comments...a couple points:

I think many go wrong when looking at the immoral acts of Muslims and then attempting to cite either Quran or the Sunnah as origin of these acts, when realistically (and rationally) no such relationship exists...

Muslims act wrong in spite of their religion, not because of it. It then behooves those who aren't Muslim to understand and know this, because truth is not "religious". Imaginge the impact of non-Muslims being able to deride any attempt by a Muslim, who commits a crime and erroneously uses "islamic justification" to explain their crime. It is out of human respect that we bear witness to the truth even if it be against ourselves.

Lastly, do you really think that the idiots among us who wave the banner of Deen in support of their ill actions are scholars? Is it not that such people misinterpret the Quran and Hadith, much the same as many do in other religions? Of course!

And don't all people have the respectful right to be informed of bs when they are about to trek thru it? Well, one way we Muslims can do it is by upholding the facts of our Deen, not as a way to be apologetic, but simply as a way to uphold the simple aspect of truth...

PS I don't agree that Islam needs a reformation - only because i don't see the term as applicable...I like the term "reclamation" instead. For centuries, Muslims have gone away from the basic tenets of faith and humanity that Islam prescribed, for no reason, and without any excuses - and it is probably why worldwide we in the various predicaments we are in now...Remember, Allah says good comes from Him, evil comes from our ownselves
