Reader comment on item: Civil war likely in Iraq: Pipes

Submitted by rench (United States), Mar 3, 2006 at 17:04

And the anti american forces would likely use any civil war in Iraq as a weapon in one way or another against the U.S . Hypothetically of course, because an Iraq civil war is not yet materialized. Also an iraq civil war in today's global climate, while in some ways not too harmful to stratigic assesments, could and would be used in many arenas against U.S. interests.

Simply put, do not underestimate the position of the enemies of the U.S..T hey are continually probing and very crafty. Such as the Elections in the mideast , the Islamists will jump at a chance to gain electorial power. Not to list too many negative effects, but in todays pollitics who would just let the U.S. take a side line postion to a civil war and allow us to let it bleed. It would be a policy makers nightmare to implement such a stratagy, while the enemies of the U.S jockey and push it for advantage.

whether or not Iraq fights a civil war, any and all conflict in the mideast is dangerous. So we may have the ablity to look at such a possibility cooly, but reality is much larger and moving too fast for us to grasp. So caution is requierd if an Iraqi civil war is confirmed. i cant yet bring my analysis to understand it as a not so big type of a thing. It seems at this point such an assessment would be a bit of wishful thinking. None the less, its a good start.
