The Traitor

Reader comment on item: Muhammad Ali's "Beautiful Soul"

Submitted by Patrick T. Altman (United States), Dec 10, 2005 at 20:09

I was in grade school back when Cassius Clay dodged the draft and remember my dad's hatred of Cassius Clay and can now understand why my dad hated him. For you see, my dad was a warrior in the Korean War. My dad did the honorable and noble deed of reporting to Fort Campbell Kentucky when he received his draft notice and served the United States of America honorably as a foot soldier on the front lines in Korea. Many times dad repeated the phrase "War is Hell" because he tasted blood, slaughter, and death caused by Marxist, Communist aggression in Korea.

In my dad's eyes and now my eyes, Cassius Clay was nothing but a traitor and a Benedict Arnold who should have been tried by a military tribunal and court martialed... A number of professional and college athletes have honored the United States by serving and were made far better for it.

Cassius Clay has absolutely no excuse whatsoever for not having served. In fact our military should still conduct this tribunal and carry out the sentence.

Without a shadow of doubt, Cassius Clay also helped bring Islam to our shores. Islam, that so called religion that has been responsible for countless atrocities on our shores as well as worldwide.
Thank you very much Daniel Pipes.
