Leopard can't change its spots

Reader comment on item: Muhammad Ali's "Beautiful Soul"

Submitted by EB (United States), Dec 1, 2005 at 18:43

It is amazing how forgetful we as a nation are. When it comes to famous people, it's like what they do in the past has nothing to do with them now. That is far from the truth. Just like Madonna, at this moment she is a respectable woman in many peoples eyes. She writes childrens books, is politically active, and is charitable. So because of her present self, everyone has forgotten the Madonna that brought sex to videos or the Madonna who made porn with her dancers. The old Madonna is the same one who writes childrens books today.

Same goes for Ali. While he was able to tear down things, he did. While he was able to abuse people, he did. With the illness he has, he isn't the same man he once was. That is the way it is. But, to give someone a gift of honor means that they lead a honorable life, which we all know Ali did not. Love him or hate him, he was not a honorable man.
