Hey Kim, slow down and take a breath. Your heart's in the right place and but you are sounding a little to the right of Attila the Hun. Shutting up shop and closing the borders will solve nothing. I guess you are passionate about your country, I know I am about mine.
Like it or not we live in a world where we have to deal with everyone. I dont think your politicians do the best job, but I dont think they do the worst. Give them a hand. Don't sit on the sidelines throwing stones, get into the game and make a difference.
In defence of the UN, it does make a difference...just not to the outcomes and time frames you want. The alternative of not having the UN and a world where there is no diplomacy is scary one to imagine. Besides we can always follow the Vito Corleone phillosopy of "...keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" ( the alternative is Arnies "...Hasta la Vista Baby...").
