The name "burkini" is uninviting

Reader comment on item: Ban the Burqa, Allow the Burkini

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Feb 21, 2021 at 20:20

Dear Dr Pipes, Burkini is a lousy name. Even if I did not kown what it looks like and what its purpose it, I would not like to use a product called 'burkini'. Even Nikini (a play on Niqab and bikini) will sound better than Burkini!

I admit that it might just be my personal bias and I would like to hear from other readers.

Further, everytime I have seen a picture of a burkini, it is either gray or black. Can't they make this product in some nicer colors: red, white, yellow, pink, aqua whatever. Or it is their purpose to make the women wereing it more unattractive? As it is, burkini is a marketing disaster.
