Very well said - as is always the case from Dr Pipes. I would add that if there is any way in which it can be said that the British 'had it coming to them' - without wanting to blame the victim - it would be in terms of criticizing the foolishness of the open-door total multicltural politically-correct nonsense that has encouraged the more extreme misfits to try to change the socity that they have supposedly moved to because of its opportunities, its progress, its economic success. I speak/write as someone who grew up in Britain as a child of immigrants, and who had to adapt to and accept the British way of life and peaceful attitudes etc, even while having the FREEDOM to pursue my own articular religion. My religion was not strongly encouraged - but we had the freedom to pursue it, and the Jewish community in Britain today is successful, enjoys it freedoms, and is poignantly aware that the freedom comes with the high risk of assimilation. In North America we see the same phenomenon. Britain's mistake since my generation has been to allow the rot of multiculturalism which for certain groups has become a euphemism for trying to coerce - now violently - their hosts into becoming the society that they left - apparently oblivious to the reasons why had to leave their (or their parents') countries of socially-economically-educationally backward origin. Keep up the good work Joseph Berger
