Reader comment on item: [London Terrorism:] British "Covenant of Security" with Islamists Ends

Submitted by John Randall Peacher (United States), Jul 9, 2005 at 16:23

Of all Western nations, Britain, among all democracies has offered more support to Arabs and Muslims. The history before, during, and after the founding of the modern nation of Israel is a good example. Britain refused refugee ships that contained the human cargo, men, women and children that survived the pogroms and consentration camps from Germany and Eastern Europe. In an effort at Arab appeasement Britain did everything possible to capture and hang Israeli founders who resisted British rule that favored Arabs in Palestine. Thousands of Islamist have found haven in Britain since September 2001. Given this record, there is not a nation on earth that is safe from Islamic acts of terror. We either fight this new scourge against humanity called terrorism, or like Spain, change our governments out of fear of repriasal and hide our heads in a hole somewhere hoping we can ride out the blast of the next explosion. This is not a religious battle only, it is a battle of civilization fighting against tyranny and terror. There can be no compromise. I fear what will happen in the governments of free nations do not recognize this and prepare their populations accordingly.
