Let's illustrate the Allah = God equation

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by Kevin Lewk (United States), Jul 4, 2005 at 16:23

Whenever I hear the statements that:

1. In arabic the word Allah is used for God,
2. Islam worships Allah,
3. Therefore Islam worships God.

It always makes me wonder if the same logic in a different scenario. Here:

1. In italian the word Madonna is the word used for the Virgin Mary,
2. Some music lovers adore Madonna [the singer],
3. Therefore those music lovers adore the Virgin.

Does that make sense to you?
