Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by Claudio (United States), Jul 3, 2005 at 00:20

The question, whether Christians and Moslems pray to the same God should be investigated neither by linguistic speculations nor by referring to Abraham but by looking at the theological facts.

Reading the Quran, the book that is claimed by Moslems to contain Allah's direct will, unfiltered and true for all times one is in fact confronted with a multitude of concepts that contradict not only Christian theology and the human rights as they are written down in the UN Charta but also common sense. According to Islamic dogma for example slavery is legitimate and normal, leaving Islam (apostasy) ist punished by penalty of death, the inequality of women is laid down in the Quran in several parts, to kill non-believers for the sake of spreading Islam (Holy war) is divine will, the payment of a poll tax for subjugated Christians and Jews (extorsion of money) is required, blood revenge is tolerated, polygamy permitted and penalty of death for certain crimes is an order - to mention only the most important topics. None of these inhuman concepts appear in the Gospel - in the Quran however they are the will of Allah.

Islam claims to be the only true and not falsified monotheistic religion and accuses Christians to have adulterated their scripture. Christians live in an obvious state of error and so - their understanding of God must be false. They can only save their life and prevent themselves from burning in hell for eternity by denying their individual conscience and accept all the commandments and rites required in the Quran.

The theological contents of Christianity and Islam are as different as they are incompatible. When you read the Quran, the question whether Christians and Moslems pray to the same God becomes absurd and needs no further pondering.
