Reader comment on item: Muslim Hours at Municipal Swimming Pools in the West

I am live in a tourist town of a muslim country . Muslim men and women mix freely in the sea or hotel swimming pools wearing western style swim wear. Sometimes women go into the sea fully clothed . Most young women wear western clothes . Most school girls wear white shirts and black trousers. Some wear headscarves but not as many as I used to see going to some schools around the Merton area . The muslims here were outraged when ,some French residents ,asked for the speaker volume to be reduced , for the early call to the Mosque . They were told if you don't like our ways go back to France !

I went to join a private International gym here yesterday . They had this women only /men only days swimming policy . The fees are the same as if I joined in London but I would only be able to use the pool for 1/2 a week ......I did not join ..... I didn't know that this sort of thing was going on in Wimbledon . Seems like the muslims here are more liberal than the one's in Merton . "When in Rome " comes to mind
