Time for a Radical change in Israeli strategy

Reader comment on item: Islamist Turkey Overreaches
in response to reader comment: Israel not helping Assyrians, Kurds, Berbers...?

It is about time that the Israeli government make a public statement that it is Israeli policy to support the right of the Kurdish People to self-determination, and that we will make all efforts - diplomatic, economic and military - to support the right of the Kurdish people.

In the short, medium and long run, the Kurds are our only real allies, the only people whose fate - as a non-Arab people of the Middle east - is truly linked to ours; they are our genetic and cultural brothers. And just as we refused to be afraid of international reaction when we declared our Independence in 1948, we have to refuse to be afraid of Turkish Arab and Persian reactions to our support for the Kurds. Because in the long run, all the non-Arab indigenous peoples of the Middle East - which include the Jews (as well as the Turks, the Armenians and the Persians, I must remind you - will have to unite if we all want to survive and thrive.
