First of all, Palin was set up for a fall by the Couric team and McCain's handlers. Neither of them wanted her to make any real splash because the McCain team was afraid she'd steal McCains fire (If he had any to begin with) and the Couric team was afraid that she would do just what she did which was to galvanize to Republican party for some real action. Her only fault was in trusting the wrong people.

Sarah Palin was briefed wrongly by the McCain team so she went into that interview ill prepared. As well, they restricted her ability to truly express herself on any issue that she she was familiar with. The interview was hostile from the outset with Couric deliberately trying to bait her at every turn. If you really want to criticize then criticize those who set her up to take a fall.
