What do you propose to do AFTER the Iranian nuclear plants are taken out? Hunker down for thirty years of festering hatred? Invade and occupy a country that would surely engage in widespread guerrilla warfare against the USA, a country which has repeatedly shown its discomfort with imperial missions?

I agree that Iran is a threat and all-around nasty state. The fact that it openly declared in 1979 that it has no use for any diplomatic contact with us (those Azeri mullahs' gratitude to us for saving their flea-bitten hides from the fraternal embrace of Soviet peoples back in 1946?) says as much. But if we could live with Mao's possession of nuclear weapons, we can probably do the same with Iran.
