Erdogan's comments are disturbing but not surprising. He is no Mustapha Kamal to say what people do not want to hear. Secularization of turkish politics is not enough. In a predominantly muslim and above all Turk arena, he complies to the dictates of culture of islamo-fascism. The combination (turk "ish" and islamic identities) is deadly.

This goes to show the precarity of democratic values when they are undermined by much stronger allienating views of islam.
