Condemning the behaviorReader comment on item: The Enemy Has a Name Submitted by Michael (United States), Jul 4, 2008 at 12:22 We can certainly find many differences between the beliefs of the Islamists and those of the Americans. My point was merely that the two sides share one belief in common: that it's okay (and in fact, necessary) to kill those who don't believe the same things "we" do. And if you condemn the behavior you have to be even-handed. It's wrong, whether Al Qaeda does it or we do it. My belief is that we should stay out of their business and they should stay out of ours. Both sides are at fault. I would also note that our killing machine is many thousands of times larger than that employed by Al Qaeda. And millions of bystanders, the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan, are caught in the middle of what has by now become just a senseless, destructive rage with little progress being made. In the past seven years we have actually caused very little destruction to the hard core cadre of Al Qaeda. While we have cause misery without measure to the populations of those two countries. I think that's wrong. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
