Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?
in response to reader comment: Jesus and the Scriptures

Salem and thank you. I will check out the Dawood translation.

It is interesting that you say Jesus was crucified, but you failed to say if you believe he died and resurrected. The Koran does not dispute the crucifixion but it says Jesus did not die or resurrect. That is calling the Gospel story a lie. If you believe in a Jesus who did not die or resurrect you do n ot believe in the Jesus of the Bible. You follow a different Jesus. Sp when you meet a Christian you cannot truthfully say, "Oh I believe in Jesus too. He is my prophet too. You are actually talking about two different men"

There has indeed and continues to be much carnage done in the name of Jesus. Jesus warned us there would be many wolves coming in his name, but he said true followers would be lamb like and non-violent. So those who killed in his name were "pretend Christians." He said this is how you can tell the wolves from the sheep: "They will know you are Christians by your love."

Jesus and your beloved prophet teach two opposite Gospels. You say the Gospel of Jesus was timeless, but you follow a teaching that abrogates nearly everything Jesus taught. For example
Koran translation by N.J. Dawood, Penguin Classics.

Surah 4 - Women (Al Nisa) verse 34: "Men have authority over women
because God has made /the/ one superior to the other, and because
they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient.
They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them (hymen).
As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send
them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you take no
further action against them. God is high, supreme."

How can you follow a prophet who commands you to beat others?

How can follow a prophet who commands you to caught off people's heads?

Quran (8:12),
Dawood p315, line 4 "I shall cast terror into the hearts of the
infidels. Strike off their heads, maim them in every limb."

Return to the loving prophet who said his words were spirit and life. Return to kindness and peace to
all. Jesus said "Whoever keeps my sayings will never see death. Choose life cousin.
Peace be with you.
