They have already accepted a Jewish StateReader comment on item: Accept Israel as the Jewish State? Submitted by Nigel (Canada), Dec 20, 2007 at 15:42 A variety of Palestinian leaders continually deny recognition of Israel's Jewish identity. You quote Saeb Erekat as saying "The Palestinians will never acknowledge Israel's Jewish identity." While Erekat is not know for allegiance to veracity, you may wish to remind him of the Letter dated 25 March 1999 from the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations. In that letter Nasser AL-KIDWA, Ambassador, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations writes to the General Assembly of the UN that "For the Palestinian side, and since the strategic decision to forge a peace on the basis of coexistence, resolution 181 (II) has become acceptable. The resolution provides the legal basis for the existence of both the Jewish and the Arab States in Mandated Palestine ..." (see: http://jcpa.org/art/jid-apx.htm).
