Finding Power in Lies

Reader comment on item: Harvard Loves Jihad

Submitted by Vicki Kess (United States), Jun 26, 2002 at 00:19

Those in the universities who promote the brainwashing of students to support the Jihad philosophy and weigh in against their own country do so to obtain power. I believe such people cannot accept the American model of commitment, sacrifice to a higher ideal and work and also desire power. What is there when one has rejected higher ideals but the pursuit of self aggrandizement when in such a protected, intellectual environment? There is also an anarchistic element - seeking to destroy the foundations of a culture because that culture cannot bow down to them, cannot endorse them with the exclusions they seek. Why such malice and manipulation? It may be that lack of parental nurturing, coupled with personal vindictiveness for such, and an unbridled sense of superiority contribute to the promotion of outrageous untruths, thinking that will produce the imminence desired.
