First of all, this was a sound response by Pipes who obviously does not have any vested interest in misquoting or misspelling on an important issue that cuts deep despite the seemingly innocuous nature on the surface.
Getting past that, I had a question for John Abi-Habib, who quotes Gibran in his response:

"I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit."

This is a common smokescreen argument among Muslims. Even if we ignore for a moment that the above statement excludes about 3 billion people who are neither Muslim, Christian nor Jewish, how do you reconcile that with the blatantly false statement that the zero was invented by Arabs? What, precisely, is the status of an idol-worshipper (who gave the zero to Arabs) under Islam?
