TinFoil's comments are misleading.

Reader comment on item: On New York's "Khalil Gibran International Academy"
in response to reader comment: Careless use of terminology

Dear Dr Pipes,

The comments are misleading. Institutions like KGIA are a danger to modern thinking that makes success and progress possible. I will analyse Tinfoils comments sentence by sentence because I find them supremely misleading:

This entire thing was blown way out of proportion:

No it is not. As a tax-payer, I completely do not like that my hard-earned money is used to advance any specific religious or ethnic philosophy. Period.

CAIR is an organization devoted to helping Arab Americans (a group, by the way which could use some assistance in this obviously racist current environment) NOT an Islamist anything. ...

You are lying and you know it. You cannot use the words Islamic and Arabic interchangebly accoring to convenience. CAIR by the virtuie of its name is an organization devoted to advancing Islamic paurposes. By no stretch of imagination CAIR is a secular organization following a global cause.

You realize of course that the US Constitution protects our right to choose and practice any religion, or none.

Once again, it is immoral to switch between US Constitution and Sharia on convenience. If you agenda is to promulgate Islam, you should not fall back on what US constitution guarantees or does not guarantee. People who want to follow the Islamic political, legal and social doctrines will find clear disagreements between the values that US consitutions tries to expand and the ones that Islamist ideology espouses.

This is no reason to have a perfectly competent (even gifted) teacher fired from the academy that she herself founded. Is this what you envision for a free society?

Why not if her mission has shifted.
