Gibran rolling in his grave

Reader comment on item: On New York's "Khalil Gibran International Academy"

The use of Gibran's name on the school is a complete disgrace. Not only was Gibran a CHRISTIAN Lebanese (and a Maronite), but he was believed in freedom, women's rights, secularism... all concepts rejected by radical Islam. Do his paintings of nude women have anything in common with the creed put forth by this school? I suggest that you expose this lie and misuse of Gibran's name in one of your columns. I venture to guess that the overwhelming majority of Arabic speakers in America (though maybe not in New York) are Christian Lebanese who would strongly oppose the use of Gibran's name in this case. We need to protect the legacy of this great poet who inspired millions of Americans for the past 80 or 90 years.
