Islam's 'Golden Age'

Reader comment on item: Muslims "Lagging Behind"

Submitted by bobbyd (United States), Dec 26, 2006 at 07:52

I do not have an academic background, just lots of real world experience. That being said, after my rude introduction to Islam on 9/11 I have come to believe that the value systems and 'thought' processes nurtured in Islamic society are incapable of creating anything that requires original thought. The achievements in Islam's Golden Age were by NON Moslems. The administration was Islamic but the actors weren't.

If Islam were responsible wouldn't there be some evidence of those great achievements in the birth place of Islam? I saw some footage from space of an overflight of North Africa to Saudi Arabia and the only country that displayed a significant amount of vegetation was Israel. All the Moslem countries were predominantly brown!
