This to comment on Steve Singleton's posting of October 22.

The Quran is a very contradictory book.The quoted verse is from earlier days of Medina when only defensive war was allowed. Later verses have abrogated this and similar other milder verses by violent verses, making aggressive war obligatory to all Muslims(8.065,9.5,9.29,9.123, and many others).

The apologist Muslims of the West quote the earlier mild verses of Quran to tell the world that Islam is a peaceful religion whereas militants like Alqueda , Hizbullah, Islamic Jehad and Hamas leaders quote the later violent verses to instigate their followers to commit violence against non-Muslims...
