Palestinians ARE Jordanians

Reader comment on item: Palestinians Taste a Dose of Their Own Medicine

Submitted by Clint (United States), Nov 15, 2005 at 15:34

As I recall, the reason that most of the population of Jordan are Palestinian is that Jordanians ARE Palestinian. Or, to be more correct, Palestinians are Jordanian. In the early 70's Yassir Arrafat made a power play against the King of Jordan who promptly and merciliessly put it down. The result was the current image of Palestinians.

The rest of the "Arab World" saw that a nationless, homeless people would be an effective tool against Israel and instead of these countries (Jordan in particular) assimilating the "rebels" into their country, they ignored them and allowed the cancer to grow inside Israel. Now the disease has spread to those who created it. Poetic justice.
