Reader comment on item: A Reluctant but Unhesitating Vote for Donald Trump

Submitted by Alicia Maravilhao (United States), Jun 7, 2020 at 19:13

In early 2016 I too found Ted Cruz the strongest candidate, and I was eventually surprised by Trump getting the nomination. (I had never paid attention to Mr. Trump and have never watched much TV.)

But what Democrats think about the Constitution is horrifying to me, so my one and only issue boiled down to who would be nominating and confirming judges. That of course resulted in a straight Republican ticket, since even local Democrats who are quite sane will owe loyalty to the party first. And we have seen the fiery, looting face of Democratic Party's local establishments since the death of poor George Floyd.

My conclusion is similar to yours: I support President Trump for his actions and his patriotism and pray to God that he will be re-elected plus bring along a Republican Congress. It's not that Republicans are nature's noblemen/women -- that sickening story would take way too long to detail -- but the Democrats tried to cancel the Constitution (ref impeachment farce and its basis) and still hope and plan to by any means. Put nothing past them.
