Reader comment on item: A Reluctant but Unhesitating Vote for Donald Trump

Submitted by Gary Sack (United States), Jun 4, 2020 at 15:08

It's understandable, having grown up in the hey days of an embraceable Democrat party, and being in college in the 60's, that I was a Democrat for a long time...until I grew up and the Democrat party went leftist. I have so many friends who are liberal, crazy progressives, Trump haters. They can't understand what they say is my love for Trump. I've told them more than once that he was far from my first choice among the others running for the nomination, but that I felt deeply that the country was in danger if a Democrat, particularly Hillary, was elected. I believe Trump was elected because so many in the U.S. felt that way, and still do. We were losing "America" and had to reverse course. The man is not a great speaker, he's blunt, often abrasive, but he does what he says he'll do, and the country has greatly benefited. We'd be in deep trouble had he not won. And I believe he will be re-elected for the same reasons. My friends have never understood my thinking. Thank you, Daniel, for putting my thoughts in such a well stated way.
