Trump a conservative?

Reader comment on item: A Reluctant but Unhesitating Vote for Donald Trump

Submitted by Alvin D. Sokolow (United States), Jun 4, 2020 at 12:14

In response to his tortured endorsement of the Trump presidency, I must respectfully disagree with Daniel Pipes, whose work for Israel I have long admired. I do not see Donald Trump as a true conservative or with ideological moorings of any variety. He is a self-centered, incompetent, immature, fact-challenged individual who has seriously damaged the institution of the presidency. Yes, he appears supportive of Israel. But without international credibility, he lacks the ability to achieve much in this area.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to weigh in.
