On Tarek Fateh

Reader comment on item: [The Canadian Islamic Congress:] An Islamist Apology

Submitted by Safdar Ali (United States), Jul 20, 2005 at 21:17

Tarek Fateh's attempt to distinguish himself from the conservative Muslims is disingenuous at best and hypocritical at worst. He purports himself to be a leftist which is not much improvement over an Islamist in the context of confronting the terrorists. He extols leftists like Tariq Ali in his writings and speeches, who like Islamists, blames United States and the west for the bandied ‘colonialism' which these morons don't know was over, about half a century ago. While much of the world has evolved, these people are stuck in the geopolitics of the cold war.

So Tarek Fateh's left leaning views and the alleged ‘moderate Islam' is of really no positive consequence. It is a round about apology of the Jihad-ridden Islam in the name of geopolitics.

Needless to say that for a former Muslim like me, Tarek Fateh is nothing but half-baked Islamist who, instead of jumping on the Jihadi bandwagon, is implicitly paving the way for it.
