Bouyeri picture not illegally published in the Netherlands

Reader comment on item: [Theo van Gogh and] "Education By Murder" in Holland

Submitted by Oscar Laurens Schrover (Netherlands), Dec 6, 2004 at 08:24

Some sources reported that the picture of Mohammed Bouyeri was illegally published, but this is not so. Though it is not the practice to publish the names and pictures of the accused in Holland, the judge and the Justice minister Mr. Hein Donner explicitly condoned the publication of Mr.Bouyeri's picture to help further police investigations. Police want to know if and how Mr. Bouyeri has followed his victims and if there were accomplices who targeted the victim and recorded his habits through shadowing. The police are also looking for the killer's bike..
