Identity of the Victim

Reader comment on item: [Theo van Gogh and] "Education By Murder" in Holland

Submitted by Robert Snider (United States), Nov 16, 2004 at 15:28

Did you notice how many of the "wise" elite in the media were astonished by the fact that Muslim terrorists had murdered children in Breslan, Russia? They stated that such acts had never been done before, conveniently forgetting that Arafat and the Palestinians had done the same thing in Ma' alot in Israel in the '70s and that much more recently, Jewish children are targeted by suicide bombers. The identity of the victims makes a difference. Killing Jews is OK. Indeed, killing black Africans in huge numbers in the Sudan is OK. Both are somehow either "justified", "rationalized" or "excused".

But to kill an artistic, Dutch, white man in Amsterdam is profound. Why? Well, there is no claim that the Dutch land belongs to Muslims. There can be no claim for revenge for any prior victimhood that Muslims seek to drape themselves with; not their poverty or their abject lack of success. No, the motive for the cold-hearted killing is pure religious hatred. An emotion devoid of reason and of reality. Even the kind-hearted Dutch must know in their guts that such a motive and hatred cannot be "negotiated" nor explained away. Perhaps Bush and Sharon will begin to make sense to them.
