But is that practical, dhimmi no more?

Reader comment on item: U.S.-Pakistan Relations in Decline
in response to reader comment: Pakistan is our enemy and it should be declared as a terrorist state

Hi DNM:-

I agree with your description of Pakistan as falling apart with poverty, poor education and terrorism, but do you think anything worthwhile would be achieved in declaring Pakistan a 'terrorist state'? Also, I am not sure if it really is so easy to destroy the country's nuclear weapons stocks and end all aid.

Would you not say it is more reasonable to make it clear now to the Pakistani military and government that financial aid is not unconditional, and will depend on completing peace talks and signing a lasting peace d├ętente agreement with India? After all, the cold war with India is the reason Pakistani military and intelligence play double games with militants in Waziristan and safeguard the Taliban Shura in Quetta and Punjab-based groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba. Of course, there is also the burden of the problem of Islamist ideology being taught in the Pakistani education system, such that the consensus amongst the population (with the exception of Balochistan, where a popular, secular nationalist insurgency is waging an armed campaign against the Pakistani government) is overwhelmingly Islamist?

I agree completely by the way that Pakistan was a mistake in the first place.
