The Road Ahead: We Must Not Waver

Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Killing of Osama bin Laden

At last, we managed to bring the murderer to justice. It will surely make extremists do their best to retaliate. What we need to do is, Re-retaliate with a force 4 times greater than their retaliation. We need to bear in mind that this is a war, not a contest. We did not begin this war. We struck back under provocation. We are not in this war to win moslem hearts. We are in it to ensure our enemies do not harm us regardless of what religion/ideology they use to justify their actions. They need to realize that America will leave them alone if they leave America alone. Mess with us and we will mess back with 4 times the force. We do not wish the death of our enemies, but if their death is the only way to keep America free, then so be it. We also need to stand by secular forces in the moslem world because a civilized moslem world is good for world peace. We cannot stress enough: There are thousands of moslems who are benign and do not like extremism. They have our respect and our sympathies.
