Dust Bin of History

Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Killing of Osama bin Laden

Submitted by Barry Black (United States), May 2, 2011 at 15:10

Why it took almost 10 years to find USL is a perplexing question. It appears that he was living the high life while his minions were the ones living in caves and hovels. The main purpose of USL was always symbolic, but an important symbol. Like past anarchistic movements, al-Qaeda is now on it's way to the dust bin of history. It should also be remember that the USA made USL, when it failed to follow up after the Soviets left Afghanistan and allowed the Taliban to rise in a failed country, which in turn allowed USL to establish a base. As a side note, the 9-11 attack in NYC accelerated the rehab of Tribeca----funny how things work.
