Reader comment on item: How to Save the Obama Presidency: Bomb Iran

Submitted by Jay1 (United States), Feb 6, 2010 at 01:40

Dr. Pipes is right to say that President Obama should take out fast, the Iranian nuclear sights.I would suggest that the simple reason should be that alot of the world order and security is at stake. As to whether or not Obama has it in him to see this danger an act is anyones guess. For also simply put, President Obama was, at the time of his candidacy and election, barely known. His immediate and one sided annoyance of Americas good friend Israel, leaves one to conclude that saving a faultering American presidency can always rely on pressuring Jerusalem ala Jimmy Carter style. But in fairness to President Obama,it is more than his decision and judgement that is in question.

For instance President Bush, with yes,his plate full, watched North Korea succeed at developing the bomb, and their trading partner Iran proceed and improve. There is then the strangely distracting story today about the U.S. desire in setting up a missle defence near Russia to protect threats comming from the east. I get the threat. I dont get the missle shield solution. As everyone gets more and more worried with only the Israelis admitting it, I instead agree with Dr. Pipes. To partly paraphrase him : Bomb Iran
