Do the Palestinians need to be defeated?

Reader comment on item: One Cheer for Obama's Arab-Israeli Policy

Of course they do! But your raising them to the dignity of an enemy over which Sun Tzu advises complete victory misses the mark, I think. They are rather like my favorite story of the "Mouse in the Warehouse". Once there was a huge steel warehouse and the manager of the warehouse found a mouse nibbling at treats in the small office. The manage was a kind person, and didn't want to kill the mouse so she lured the mouse into the warehouse and blocked its entrance back into the office.

One morning she came in to find sawdust on her desk, the mouse was trying to drill through the roof of the office. "Surely," tyhought the manager. "The roof is too thick for the mouse to penetrate!" So she went on about her work in peace.

Soon, she came to work and found the mouse sitting on her desk. That day, she bought a mouse trap.

The Arab nations are formidible foes. Over which Israel must achieve recognition and a stable future by total victory -either by the arm of the flesh in military might or by divine intervention.

Dear Mr.Pipes:

I love your blog - best of all blogs. The above comment is for you. We Christians would run to rattle our sabre in support of Israel if you would give us a Jewish leader who would turn us loose - we know this is a spiritual war. We know Israel must win. We have read the last page in THE BOOK.
