Reader comment on item: "A Shot at Peace": Can the U.S. Enforce the "Road Map"

Submitted by Michael Greengard (Israel), Jul 8, 2003 at 13:55

I am far less "impressed" than Mr. Pipes by the US administration. If the administration was really interested in eliminating terrorism, it would demand the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority, which is just another name for the the PLO - the world's leading terrorist organization over the past 35 years. The PLO has committed no less terrorism against Israel over the past three years than the other Palestinian terrorist organizations. It has also led a campaign of anti-Semitic incitement and hatred equal in every way to that instituted by the Nazis. It is simply not plausible that Bush, or anyone else in the US administration, really believes these people will ever make peace.

The Road Map has nothing whatsoever to do with peace; it is a simple case of the United States appeasing the Palestinians and the Arabs, at Israel's expense. What is the explanation for the administration's indulgence for the Palestinians? The Palestinians demonstrated for Saddam Hussein. They burn American flags. They show their hatred for America, and all its stands for, at every opportunity. Is this a new form of self hatred?
