Bush's doctrine

Reader comment on item: "A Shot at Peace": Can the U.S. Enforce the "Road Map"

Submitted by Edward Zajicek (United States), Jul 11, 2003 at 16:24

Dear Dr. Pipes,

I not only agree with you 100%, but I would go even further. President Bush should (privately) put more pressure on Sharon and instead of asking him for "moderation" i.e., capitulatation before the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, he should give Sharon an ultimatum. Either Israel destroys Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other terrorists groups in 90 days, or it won't see a penny of US aid ever! He (Sharon) must now figure it out how to do it!

Official policy of moderation might continue (not to upset the Arabs), but privately Israel should be given a GRREN LIGHT to deal with this problem.
