We Can't Afford War and Restoration Reader comment on item: War's New Face

We must get at least partial reimbursement for our enormous expenditures both in fighting the Iraq War, and for whatever we'll spend to build her back up.
Sure, critics will sneer when we attempt to obtain reimbursement. That's why we should hustle to repair and run the oil wells, then very publicly use oil income to provide food, water system, medical facilities to the people. We could start a citizens' bank to disperse money to ordinary citizens for new businesses or house repair.
However, after a year of this, Americans has an obligation to appropriate enough of the oil income to cover the war's expenses.
If not, American citizens are going to be less and less willing to have this "new kind of war."
