We show them our tacticsReader comment on item: War's New Face Submitted by Del Jones, CPP (United States), Apr 16, 2003 at 16:18 Amazingly, we show the enemy how our vehicles move forward, during the attack, in realtime over the TV airwaves. If I am an enemy commander, I videotape the broadcast, show it to my soldiers, point out the distance between the tanks, show them the grill doors outside the engine compartment and say "this is where they are most vulnerable: hit them there with your RPGs". [It wasn't hard for me to gage where the main body of the 3dID was during their advance.] Then I'd rehearse the attack, lie in wait alongside the most likely avenues of approach; if a target of opportunity (eg, a Maintenance Co. [Note: Army Maint. Co.personnel became POWs after a sandstorm] presented itself, I'd attack it. Hopefully, military censors will delay TV transmissions at least an hour (so they can blip out tactically important info) in the future. I am currently finishing a military history book titled: The Persian Gulf Wars-Conflict of Cultures. If you are interested in collaborating on such a book or can write in Arabic, please contact me. I served for 23 years as an Army Officer. Four years as a Tank Company Officer(3 yrs with the 64th Armor, 3d Infantry Division. I have taught History at Mercer University.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
