Dr. Pipes, first let me commend you on this article, which I consider the best one you have ever written, and I have read almost all of them. My point here is just to pose a question: do you think that confrontations with rogue regimes will now escalate to the point where the use of weapons of mass destruction becomes routine? It looks like Iran, Syria and North Korea will continue to function as international weapons of self-destruction, so we will have to confront them eventually. Since they saw what happened to Saddam when he failed to use WMD in the preliminary stages of battle, wouldn't they then use them to scare us away from ever challenging their hegemony on the transasian axis? What about China, Pakistan, Libya, Egypt and Sudan?Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
