Howard Zinn on PBS 3/17/03

Reader comment on item: The Iraq Dilemma

Submitted by Bill Fello (United States), Mar 17, 2003 at 22:01

I must confess I had never heard of Zinn before seeiing him on a PBS news show panel tonite. I was shocked by his almost willful ignorance of both history and the present, as well as his visceral venom against his own country. He claims that America has never been a supporter of establishing democratic governments, for instance, when the democratic governments of Japan and Germany, two of the greatest nations in the world, were created or sponsored by the US after WW II. His simplistic notions and willingness to ignore facts and invent his own version of reality are an indictment of his own intellectual integrity. He is the poster child for intellectual dishonesty and academic buffoonery. I laughed out loud at some of his inane claims, so at least he was entertaining.

I would never consent to have my sons and daughter "educated" by this man. There is no fool like an intellectual fool.

And I have no respect for an institution that would inflict this man upon unsuspecting students.
