Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?

Submitted by Faraz (Canada), Jan 23, 2003 at 16:50

The world does not hate the United States. Most people, including Muslims, respect its law, its relative economic honesty, and its democratic government. The object of the hatred is in the foreign policy. A country posing such a threat to world peace, understanding nothing about foreign culture, and above all, having no intent of helping others without tapping into oil will be hated by the ones it victimizes. This war on terrorism has been the biggest farce, and most educated people have come to realize that it is merely a tactic at tapping into the world's largest oil reserves and maintaining a strong geographic position for its support of Israel.

Even most Canadians hate United States for these reasons. It's not just Muslims. The celebration of Palestinians on September 11th, 2001, was just them celebrating one strike against a nation that has been sponsoring the murder of hundreds of thousands of their people.
