The world envies America's success.

Reader comment on item: [Symposium:] Why Does the World Hate America?

Submitted by Hari Iyer (United States), Jan 21, 2003 at 13:14

It is simple as that. The american system encompasses various aspects, including
1) respect for individualism.
2) respect for property
3) constitutional protection & due process
4) opportunity to create wealth (make money and live the good life)

One of the things that various countries and people are having difficulty understanding is that in the United States wishes prosperity for all its people; in many other countries, they have delusional thinking on welfare and people that they assume that all the people have to be poor.

To sum it up, we want everyone to be wealthy and rich, while other countries want everyone to be poor (typical socialism/islamism thinking)
