Radical Chic at HarvardReader comment on item: Jihad: The Fight Over Meaning Submitted by Laina Farhat-Holzman (United States), Jun 6, 2002 at 11:22 I watched this program and was very happy to hear Dr. Pipes. I think the most telling comment was that Harvard forbids the ROTC a place on campus, but anything else goes. I am also tired of the "evenhanded" media pitting a Muslim cardiologist against a non-Muslim qualified historian of Islam. The term "Jihad" has been taken over by the Islamists, and while it is nice to hear that it can be interpreted as an inner spiritual struggle, that is not how it is being practiced around the world today. I would hope that four years of Harvard would provide sufficient critical thinking among the graduates to be able to make this distinction, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
